2002 Big Railroad Hobby Show
For only the second time in the show’s existence, the Superbowl once again conflicted with the Sunday of the Railroad Hobby Show. To make matters a bit worse, one of the teams who made the big game was the New England Patriots. With a large contingent of people who attend the show from the region, naturally a large contingent are also Patriots fans. This made it a busy weekend for them and most of those who were going to watch the game decided to come out on Saturday. The crowds were intense all day on Saturday with it somewhat difficult to move around. However, on Sunday at mid-day, the show was a ghost town as most people were heading home to watch the Patriots kick a last second field goal to dawn a dynasty.
Over in the Young Building, the Mohegan Pequot Model Railroad Club debuted its huge Passenger Module Complex – a 42’x4’ module set featuring a large city passenger station complex. While only the benchwork, track, and temporary wiring were complete for this year’s show, it was apparent just how impressive this project would eventually be once completed. .
The 2003 Railroad Hobby Show will be held on February 1-2, 2003.
