2005 Big Railroad Hobby Show

Show Highlights

While the crowds were down a bit this year with just over 16,000 visitors packing in the three buildings of the show, a lot of interesting modeling was presented at the show. Inside the Better Living Center, the host’s Amherst Belt Lines layout was packed with animation. The layout featured a working rotary coal dump module, a working hump yard, and camera installed inside one of their HO scale locomotives. A TV was setup which received the signal from the locomotive so show attendees could get a view from the cab as a train circled around the Amherst Belt Lines mainline.

Nearby, long time exhibitor and extensively published Mike Tylick had his former Model Railroader O scale project layout – the Pioneer Valley Railroad – on display. Some new details and rolling stock updated the appearance of the switching layout since it graced the pages of MR about a decade earlier. In addition, the Narragansett Bay Railway and Navigation layout continued to grow with some new modules as well as some newly completed scenes.

The 2006 Railroad Hobby Show will be held on January 28 and 29, 2006.
